About The Position

Tessera is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled professional to join our team as a General Maintenance Mechanic – Lead (GMM Lead), a role that exemplifies excellence, reliability, and leadership in the field. The GMM Lead plays a pivotal role in supporting facility operations and infrastructure readiness. This position is designed for experienced tradespeople who demonstrate initiative and integrity while guiding, training, and assisting technicians across multiple disciplines. The GMM Lead serves as a trusted technical resource and field mentor, ensuring work quality, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. This classification supports multi-disciplinary tasks across carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems, contributing meaningfully to mission success and operational resilience.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general maintenance or a skilled trade
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training in one or more trades preferred
  • Must have experience as an electrician, plumber/fitter, carpenter, or HVAC mechanic
  • Demonstrated leadership in field operation
  • Ability to train and mentor others effectively
  • High level of safety awareness and adherence to protocols
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform general maintenance across multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems, ensuring quality and adherence to safety standards.
  • Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and technical support to technicians, assisting with troubleshooting and field task execution.
  • Inspect completed work for compliance with technical specifications, safety protocols, and operational efficiency.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment and rigging tools safely while responding to emergency maintenance needs and seasonal tasks such as snow removal.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents; manage work orders, documentation, and inventory tracking using mobile and computer systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with other trades, supervisors, and base personnel while maintaining professionalism and strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
