GCP Infra Specialist
About The Position
This role is for an experienced GCP Infrastructure specialist who enjoys building, improving, and supporting cloud environments in a consultative, hands‑on capacity. You’ll work closely with technical teams to plan, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure—without the demands of constant travel or a traditional delivery‑center model. The focus is on practical execution: designing cloud environments, automating operations, supporting migrations, and guiding teams toward reliable, secure, and scalable solutions on Google Cloud Platform, with multi‑cloud experience (AWS and/or Azure) considered valuable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of experience supporting cloud infrastructure, migrations, or upgrades within GCP, AWS, or Azure
- At least 5 years of hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform
- Strong experience administering Linux and/or Windows operating systems
- Experience installing, configuring, automating, and monitoring IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services
- Solid understanding of cloud security concepts including: IAM and access controls High availability and disaster recovery architectures
- Hands‑on experience with cloud migrations
- Automation and scripting experience using tools such as: Ansible Bash / Shell Python (Perl a plus)
- Experience supporting CI/CD workflows and DevOps practices
- Working knowledge of container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Associate Cloud Engineer)
- Experience supporting multi‑cloud environments
- Knowledge of security tooling such as vulnerability scanning, endpoint protection, logging, or SIEM platforms
- Experience working in regulated or compliance‑conscious environments
Responsibilities
- Lead and support cloud initiatives including implementations, upgrades, migrations, and change requests across client environments
- Design, configure, and manage infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform
- Automate infrastructure and operational workflows using scripting and configuration tools
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize multiple cloud environments based on client requirements
- Collaborate with development teams to support the deployment of microservices‑based applications in public cloud environments
- Implement and support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes
- Contribute to security, high availability, and disaster recovery designs within GCP
- Provide technical guidance and light mentorship to junior engineers when needed
- Document infrastructure standards, configurations, and operational practices
