About The Position

Central Maine Medical Center, a Prime Healthcare affiliated hospital, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to join its established and expanding Digestive Health program in Lewiston, Maine. This position offers the opportunity to practice comprehensive gastroenterology in a collaborative hospital-based environment, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Collaboration & Quality • Collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, oncology, radiology, and primary care teams • Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and patient safety initiatives • Maintain timely and accurate electronic medical record documentation • Adhere to medical staff bylaws, hospital policies, and regulatory standards Compensation & Benefits Prime Healthcare offers a competitive and compliant compensation structure aligned with fair market value and federal Stark/Anti-Kickback regulations, including:

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of accredited Internal Medicine residency
  • Completion of accredited Gastroenterology fellowship
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Eligible for or active Maine medical license
  • DEA registration
  • BLS and ACLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including: Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) Colonoscopy Biopsy and polypectomy Hemostasis and dilation PEG placement
  • Diagnose and manage gastrointestinal conditions including: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) Liver disease and hepatitis Pancreatic disorders Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Participate in a shared call schedule
