We are seeking a Gastroenterology Physician to support the Veteran community in the Augusta, ME area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. Position Highlights: Logistics: Contract Type: 1 base year with 4, 1-year option periods Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Occasional on-call hours. What does a typical day look like for the Gastroenterologist? You will:

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Clinic/Procedure Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
  • On Call: Weeknight: Mon-Friday 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. (1 week in every 4-week rotation).
  • Weekend /Holiday On-Call Schedule: One (1) weekend in four (4) rotation (1 weekend on and 3 weekends off) and one (1) holiday in every four (4) holiday rotation.
  • Direct Patient Care: estimated 95% of the time is involved in direct patient care: Colonoscopy: Colonoscopy via colostomy, Colonoscopy w/biopsy(ies), Colonoscopy w/ablation of tumor/polyp/lesion, Colonoscopy w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by hot forceps, Colonoscopy w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare technique, Colonoscopy w/out biopsy, Colonoscopy w/ submucosal. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD): EGD diagnostic, EGD w/biopsy(ies), EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by hot forceps, EGD w/removal of tumor/polyp/lesion by snare technique.
  • Administrative: estimated 5% of time not involved in direct patient care: Quality Improvement Meetings, Staff Meetings, QA/QI documentation, Patient Safety Compliance, and Reporting.
