Job Overview The Payroll Garnishment Coordinator II interprets and applies state and federal civil code statutes to support compliant wage garnishment processing in the payroll system. The Coordinator prepares responses, answers and payments; provides customer service to colleagues and third-parties and supports the garnishment processing team.

Requirements

  • Payroll Garnishment Expertise – Strong working knowledge of federal and state garnishment statutes and their application within payroll operations preferred.
  • Regulatory Interpretation – Ability to read, interpret, and apply civil code statutes, court orders, and regulatory guidance accurately.
  • Analytical & Mathematical Skills – Proficiency in calculating rates, percentages, and balances, with strong attention to detail.
  • Payroll Systems Knowledge – Experience working with payroll platforms, preferably Oracle HCM Cloud and Oracle EBS Payables.
  • Written & Verbal Communication – Skill in drafting clear, compliant written responses to legal correspondence and verbally communicating effectively with all parties.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Ability to partner effectively with internal teams and external agencies to resolve garnishment matters.
  • Time Management & Prioritization – Capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
  • Confidentiality & Professional Judgment – Commitment to handling sensitive employee and financial data with discretion and integrity.
  • Technology Proficiency – Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.

Responsibilities

  • Research, interpret, comprehend, analyze and decision legal documents based on Federal/State Civil Code for the purpose of determining the correct setup of garnishment orders in the payroll system.
  • Research and compose responses to legal interrogatories, balance inquiries and acknowledgements of garnishment orders to courts and third-party creditors.
  • Provide required weekly garnishment answers to third-party creditors. Analyze that computed deductions comply with the legal requirements.
  • Prepare the computation and distribution of weekly garnishment payouts required for the legal interim and/or final answers to the third-party creditors.
  • Maintenance garnishments in the payroll system for balance updates, releases and when balances are satisfied. Run and distribute weekly notification letters for termed colleagues and completed garnishments.
  • Request new and/or changes to the third-party garnishment suppliers. Run vendor download reports from Oracle EBS.
  • Manage the garnishment email box, AskHR cases and customer service phone line. Respond to inquiries from colleagues, HR and third-party creditors.
  • Process daily mail to/from all sources including retrieval, prepping, and distribution to appropriate parties.
  • Prep, scan and index documents into the imaging system for record retention.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
