About The Position

Responsible for performing bartending services for Garden events requesting beverage and concessions. The Bartender ensures Garden policies and procedures relating to the serving of alcoholic beverages are followed at all times. Including but not limited to, verifying age requirements, knowing how to make traditional and craft cocktails, processing payments, managing inventory and cleaning bar stations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of two years prior experience as a bartender.
  • Must attend and pass the Responsible Vendor Training program as prescribed by the Alabama Beverage Control Board.
  • The ABC board requires that a person be at least 21 years old to serve alcohol.
  • Ability to communicate well in a team and work toward shared goals, prioritize tasks, and strive for continuous improvement.

  • Must be polished and maintain Garden appropriate attire (black dress top, black professional bottoms and black shoes not in disrepair).
  • Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure.
  • Knowledge of craft cocktails, ability to build cocktails up to 6 to 7 points and prepare specialty drinks that enhance the ambiance of an event.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using a Point-of-Sale system like Square or similar and experience bartending in events like concerts or weddings.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the bar is properly stocked with the supplies needed for the event.
  • Maintains constant oversight and control of alcohol, follows approved builds for all beverages served. Ensures that all liquor poured is properly measured with jiggers to ensure recipe consistency.
  • Serves clients and their guests, under the guidelines of the Alabama Beverage Control Board and Garden policies. Strictly complies with Responsible Vendor requirements. Interacts with guests in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Take guest orders and operate the POS, in a manner that exemplifies expertise for accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
  • Works positively and professionally with other personnel assigned to the event as well as outside vendors. Assists with answering questions or resolving issues pertaining to the beverage service.
  • Keeps the appearance of the bar neat and clean.
  • Follows all safety procedures, maintaining the ongoing responsibility of reporting any safety-related questions or concerns. Responsible for the completion of all event paperwork and documents any visitor injuries and/or incidents.
  • At the conclusion of the event, provides cash and service count information according to department procedures. Secures all liquor, wine, beer, mixers in appropriate areas. Makes sure bar equipment is clean and ready for the next event.
  • Train and support new team members by providing guidance on preparation, POS operation, service standards, and safety procedures to ensure consistency and quality across all service areas and performs other duties as assigned.
