About The Position

The Illinois Gaming Board is seeking Gaming Special Agents to work in the Gaming Field Operations Division. The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) serves as the regulatory body for all gambling activities across the state of Illinois, with a mission to preserve the integrity of the Illinois gaming industry. The agency administers a regulatory and tax collection system for casino gambling, video gaming, and sports wagering in Illinois. Requirements

Requires two (2) years of college with coursework in criminal justice, law enforcement, pre-law, business administration, or a related field, PLUS five (5) consecutive years of full-time service as a police officer with the same law enforcement agency; OR
Requires a minimum of 20 years of sworn law enforcement experience in good standing with the same law enforcement agency; OR
Requires successful completion of the Gaming Special Agent Trainee Program.
Pass Illinois Gaming Board’s background investigation (background check).
Graduated from an approved State Police Academy program and are currently certified as a sworn peace officer.
Possess sufficient physical fitness to have passed the Peace Office Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test.
Pass an approved firearms qualification course and have a valid Firearm owners Identification (FOID) card.
Requires ability to perform shift work, including weekends and holidays.
Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime, including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
Requires an appropriate valid driver’s license.
Must comply with the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act: No State employee who works for the Illinois Gaming Board, or spouse or immediate family member living with such person shall, during State employment, hold an ownership interest in, other than a passive interest in, a publicly traded company, in any gaming license under the Illinois Gambling Act, the Video Gaming Act, the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975, or the Sports Wagering Act.
Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act: No person shall be employed to serve the Board who is, or whose spouse, parent or child is, an official of, or has a financial interest in or financial relation with, any operator engage in gambling operations within this State, or any organization engaged in conducting horse racing within this State.
Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act: For the one year immediately preceding employment, an employee shall not have been employed or received compensation or fees for services from a person or entity, or its parent or affiliate, that has engaged in business with the Board, a licensee, or a licensee under the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975.
Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.

Responsibilities

As a sworn armed peace officer, serves as a Gaming Special Agent ensuring the integrity of gaming in the State of Illinois by enforcing the Illinois Gambling Act, Video Gaming Act, Sports Wagering Act, State Fair Gaming Act, and any other statues for which the Gaming Board has jurisdiction.
Conducts interviews and investigates complaints.
Processes casino and video gaming applications for licenses.
Assists the Attorney General, State’s Attorney, and the U.S. Attorney’s Offices in preparation of cases for civil or criminal prosecution.
Coordinates with other law enforcement agencies and gaming jurisdictions in conducting joint investigations or in exchanging information on persons, associated with the gaming industry.
Participates in various trainings, including, but not limited to: Firearms; Professional; Fitness.
Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
