About The Position

The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) serves as regulatory body for all gambling activities across the state of Illinois. Our mission is to preserve the integrity of the Illinois gaming industry. The agency administers a regulatory and tax collection system for casino gambling, video gaming, and sports wagering in Illinois. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to four years of college, preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminal justice, pre-law, business administration, or a related field.
  • Requires current certification as a sworn peace officer.
  • Requires four (4) years progressively responsible professional experience as a Gaming Senior Special Agent in Enforcement or Investigations with the Gaming Board.
  • Requires an additional one (1) year of sworn officer supervisory experience in a law enforcement unit.
  • Graduated from an approved State Police academy program.
  • Possess sufficient physical fitness to have passed the Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test.
  • Passed an approved firearms qualification course and have a valid Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card.
  • Requires ability to perform shift work including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Requires possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
  • Pass Illinois Gaming Board’s background investigation (background check).
  • Must comply with the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act: No State employee who works for the Illinois Gaming Board, or spouse or immediate family member living with such person shall, during State employment, hold an ownership interest in, other than a passive interest in, a publicly traded company, in any gaming license under the Illinois Gambling Act, the Video Gaming Act, the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975, or the Sports Wagering Act.
  • Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act: No person shall be employed to serve the Board who is, or whose spouse, parent or child is, an official of, or has a financial interest in or financial relation with, any operator engaged in gambling operations within this State, or any organization engaged in conducting horse racing within this State.
  • Must comply with the Illinois Gambling Act: For the one year immediately preceding employment, an employee shall not have been employed or received compensation or fees for services from a person or entity, or its parent or affiliate, that has engaged in business with the Board, a licensee, or a licensee under the Illinois Horse Racing Act of 1975.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non-State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non-State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Gaming Unit Supervisor.
  • Serves as working supervisor.
  • Meets and confers with casino general manager and/or other management personnel on all matters pertinent to gaming operations.
  • Reviews owner’s statistical reports to identify gross fluctuations in normal live games win percentages and cage shortages.
  • Oversees special investigations as assigned.
  • Serves as liaison in either responding to requests for assistance or seeking assistance from outside law enforcement agencies.
  • Participates in various trainings, including but not limited to:Firearms, Professional and Fitness.
  • Participates as an instructor in new agent training programs.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
