About The Position

The majority of the graduate teaching assistant's primary duties are in support of instruction. This includes serving as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory, assisting a faculty member with teaching-related tasks, and grading student assignments that require knowledge of subjects taught. Additionally, the role involves meeting with and/or tutoring students, holding office hours, preparing instructional materials, and assisting during class and/or lab sessions. Specific duties for these positions may also include leading problem-solving sessions and delivering a course.

Requirements

  • Eligible for appointment as per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook
  • Must be a degree seeking graduate student at Illinois State University in the Technology Program
  • For teaching assistant positions, state law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position
