The majority of the graduate teaching assistant's primary duties are in support of instruction. This includes serving as a primary or secondary teaching instructor in a class or laboratory, assisting a faculty member with teaching-related tasks, grading student assignments that require knowledge of subjects taught, meeting with and/or tutoring students, holding office hours, preparing instructional materials, and assisting during class and/or lab. Specifically, for these positions, the Graduate Teaching Assistant will be fully responsible for the instruction of undergraduate students in teaching COM 110 - Communication as Critical Inquiry and/or other instructional duties as per programmatic needs. This involves preparing and delivering all lessons, grading student performances and writing, and creating and administering tests/quizzes. The GA will teach two sections of COM 110 or a comparable assignment, hold office hours, and attend professional workshops and seminars on teaching as well as observe other more experienced teachers.
