About The Position

Wisconsin Public Media (WPM) is excited to invite applications for a skilled and collaborative Fundraising Systems Manager to join our dedicated team. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a technical leader who wants to serve communities across Wisconsin, leveraging technology to support a vital public service mission rooted in the Wisconsin Idea. The Fundraising Systems Manager serves as the hands-on manager for our fundraising CRM systems. You’ll lead the systems design and technical execution that enables our Development team to connect with thousands of annual donors and raise millions of dollars in support of public media. In this “working manager” role, you will not only guide strategy but also actively participate in the technical work, while supervising and mentoring a Fundraising Systems Analyst. We are seeking a candidate who enjoys creative problem-solving, values collaboration, and is driven by our mission to serve audiences across the state of Wisconsin. This is an opportunity to shape how technology supports one of the largest statewide public media systems in the country, with room to innovate and grow professionally. This role will report to the Director of IT, but will work closely with colleagues across Development, Membership, Engineering, and Marketing and Communications, partnering with teams who share your passion for using technology to make a difference. We encourage applicants to apply even if they don’t meet every preferred qualification. This position is Ongoing/Renewable. This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week position. Hours are generally scheduled Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, but the schedule is flexible and will be determined at the time of hire. This position is based onsite in Madison, Wisconsin, at Vilas Communication Hall, with flexibility to accommodate occasional remote work for personal appointments or scheduling needs. Fully remote candidates will not be accepted. Remote work requires an approved flexible work arrangement (FWA). A FWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee.

Requirements

  • Experience leading complex technical projects and providing guidance or mentorship to colleagues.
  • Professional experience managing CRM, or related systems.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, or third-party agreements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of colleagues with collegiality, patience, and curiosity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with formal staff supervision, including performance management and professional development.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI), data privacy, or other security standards.
  • Demonstrated experience aligning technology systems with organizational strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to write complex database queries and troubleshoot data issues.
  • An understanding of API (Application Programming Interface) technologies and system integrations.
  • Experience developing and leading technology-focused training.

Responsibilities

  • Makes recommendations in the selection of technology solutions to align with business strategies
  • Provides direction for the mapping of business processes using advanced process-mapping methodologies
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to institutional and unit leadership on critical technology issues
  • Supervise Technical Analyst, including prioritization, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Serves as a project lead for lower level IT staff providing guidance on specific project goals, outcomes, and technological components
  • Performs complex data analyses and reporting
  • Develops and assesses opportunities for new unit staff training opportunities
  • Provides advanced procedural and technical guidance to unit staff regarding technology usage and management
  • Provides guidance to lower level staff in the design, development, and implementation of data reporting and business intelligence systems
  • Designs, develops, and implements complex data reporting and business intelligence systems
  • Lead CRM/data systems strategy and serve as primary liaison with external vendors (ROI Solutions, Engaging Networks, Payment Processor, etc.).
