Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and Wednesday, Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The Development Division at GBH supports our public media mission by raising more than $60 million annually through contributions from individuals, foundations, and institutions. The Membership Department, within the Development division, is responsible for raising annual contributions below the $900 level from nearly 190,000 members. This department plays a crucial role in engaging our audience across TV, radio, digital platforms, and events, ensuring a robust foundation of support for GBH’s content and services. Our team leverages cutting-edge digital strategies and traditional fundraising methods to achieve success in a rapidly changing media landscape. The on-air radio fundraising team within GBH Membership is actively engaged with four radio stations – GBH 89.7 NPR member station, CRB classical music station, CAI NPR member station based in Falmouth, MA and NEPM mixed format station based in Springfield, MA. The team has the responsibility of creating and executing all drive plans to meet revenue goals. JOB OVERVIEW We’re looking for a dynamic and innovative Fundraising Producer to join our team and help drive listener support. In this role, you’ll be at the center of planning, producing, and executing 15–16 on-air fundraising campaigns each year across four radio stations. Working under the guidance of the On-Air Fundraising Manager and in collaboration with a contracted radio drive specialist, you’ll support on-air campaigns that resonate with audiences and deliver results. As the Fundraising Producer, you oversee all aspects of pre-drive preparation, including task coordination for the Fundraising Production Assistant. You’ll play a key role in preparation and live execution, serving as a producer and on-air talent during breaks, while also coaching other producers and talent to ensure excellence on-air. This position requires flexibility, with occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends throughout the year. The ideal candidate brings energy, creativity, and a passion for public radio, along with a strong understanding of audience engagement and the ability to balance storytelling with performance metrics to meet and exceed fundraising goals.

Requirements

  • Ability to serve as on-air fundraising producer and talent is required.
  • Proven success in planning and executing fundraising campaigns with measurable donor engagement, revenue growth, and retention.
  • Strong on-air presence and persuasive writing skills for both broadcast and digital fundraising.
  • Skilled in collaborating with on-air talent and managing live broadcast operations towards fundraising goals.
  • Excellent project management abilities, including multitasking, meeting tight deadlines, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Self-motivated and with the ability to foresee potential challenges and provide solutions.
  • Proficient in audio editing software, broadcast systems, and fundraising platforms.
  • Open to constructive feedback and able to provide it effectively.
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3-5 years of related professional experience in fundraising, radio production, or related field, with a strong preference for public media or nonprofit environments.

Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the contracted radio drive specialist, create drive plans to achieve fundraising goals. The producer creates detailed timelines, assigns tasks, and ensures all elements are in place before each drive.
  • Oversee all logistical aspects of on-air fundraising, including scheduling shifts, coordinating resources, and managing deadlines across multiple teams.
  • Write and update scripts for on-air breaks, as needed, and write email solicitations to support the drive.
  • Act as the primary liaison for premium development, ensuring smooth collaboration between the Premium Manager, external vendor Contributor Development Partnership (CDP), and radio drive specialist.
  • Guide and motivate radio staff through pledge drive plans, fostering engagement and accountability.
  • Lead digital fundraising initiatives, including contests, digital pledge components, and coordinate live-stream graphics.
  • Produce development spots and fundraising audio in support of drives, as assigned by the On-Air Fundraising Manager.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all drive information to CDP for call-center preparedness.
  • Serve as key on-air talent and producer during drives, coordinating and stepping in as backup talent when needed.
  • Provide regular progress updates during drives to key stakeholders.
  • Oversee all post-drive tasks, including the notification of contest winners and working with the Director of Member Stewardship on specific member communications as needed.
  • Run reports, analyze pledge drive results, and share findings to inform future fundraising strategy.
