About The Position

Morgan Stanley Fund Services (MSFS) is a global business within the Institutional Equities Division (IED) that provides fund administration services for over $700 billion in assets across 350+ hedge funds, private equity, and large family offices clients. Their best-in-class offering includes accounting and investor services, portfolio analytics, middle-office functions, regulatory and financial reporting, and tax services. The Product Development team, where this role is situated, is the engine at the heart of the MSFS technology ecosystem, ensuring platforms perform seamlessly and leading transformative changes. This team partners with the Technology department to reimagine how MSFS operates and how clients engage, enabling innovation and an elevated user experience, and adopting advanced technologies like robotics and artificial intelligence for greater scale and efficiency. The current opening is for the Client Computing Solutions (CCS) Team, part of the Product Development function. The CCS Team develops tools to resolve complex, overwhelming, and error-prone business problems, particularly in areas such as investor services, investor allocation, regulatory reporting, capital activities, and trade transaction management. The team comprises colleagues with solid technical education and a background in finance and accounting. They focus on very complex, specific, and urgent circumstances, providing highly customized solutions with rapid turnaround. The CCS Team seeks a candidate with programming skills, a keen interest in process optimization, and a structured approach to problem-solving to help enhance organizational performance through creativity and the application of familiar and new tools. The role spans almost all facets of MSFS, involving collaboration with various groups on projects. Beyond analytical and technical skills, the candidate must possess good communication skills, a collaborative attitude, high creativity, and be both an independent thinker and a great listener.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, mathematics, economics or equivalent software engineering field, along with either an MBA or CFA or equivalent degree/certification in Finance or Accounting
  • Demonstrated programming skills in any one language
  • Demonstrated interest and skills in technology and process management
  • Ability to work with Microsoft office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint
  • Strong project management skills with ability to take ownership & lead projects independently with minimum supervision
  • Working knowledge of project management tools like JIRA, Rally or any other such tool
  • Strong communication skills & ability to interface with executive management, business users and technology development teams in multiple locations
  • Should be detail-oriented and must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders for prioritization and tracking of requirements
  • Ability to work as part of a focused globally distributed teams, in a complex matrix environment
  • Ability to handle pressure, effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks with high level of accuracy
  • Proactive, positive, self-motivated & a good team player

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Hedge fund accounting
  • Experience with VBA or Python languages
  • Experience using GitHub Copilot or other AI/ML based tools
  • Knowledge of databases, database concepts with ability to handle large dataset

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with executive management & business users across locations to understand/ document business requirements, detail the use cases & propose solution options
  • Design & develop a solution which is flexible to incorporate changes and scalable
  • End-to-end ownership of the tools built for client processes
  • Envisioning scenarios and take steps to incorporate them in the solution
  • Own deliverables across the automation journey to ensure the use cases and scenarios are properly documented & analysed
  • Create & manage project plans, call out risks & issues proactively, report progress against the plan & track associated project benefits
  • Create training plans & provide trainings to team-members & users as need arises
  • Ability to wear multiple hats including but not limited to Business Analyst, Developer, Project Manager, Tester & Business User
