Westcliff University is seeking qualified candidates for the role of a full-time faculty member to support its mission, core values, and student success. We are a forward-thinking, student-centric, quality-driven higher education institution. Our goal is to hire, develop, and elevate full-time faculty who exemplify these values. Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Dean(s) and/or Program Chair(s), full-time faculty members provide exemplary instruction and support to Westcliff University students. They have appropriate teaching credentials, including being academically qualified and having taught at least five courses at the undergraduate or graduate levels before a full-time appointment. Potential candidates must possess a terminal degree in their field, coupled with considerable industry experience and proven excellence in both online and on-campus teaching formats. A full-time faculty member's primary commitment is to Westcliff’s mission and student success. While “full-time” equates to an average of 40 hours weekly, excluding vacations and paid holidays, there could be times where additional hours are necessary. We expect faculty members to be present on one of Westcliff’s campuses whenever possible to foster faculty collegiality and enhance student accessibility. Faculty are expected to hold regular office hours virtually to ensure access for colleagues and students throughout the year. Teaching Responsibilities (80%): Full-time faculty members must commit a minimum of 40 hours weekly. Within this framework: A minimum of 80% (~30 hours weekly) is allocated for teaching, doctoral committee, or doctoral chair endeavors, including preparation, instruction, facilitation, support, and evaluation. In the situation of vacation time, Full Time Faculty should contact the Office of Faculty Affairs at least 3 months prior to the scheduled vacation. Faculty take active roles in teaching weekend professional format courses. Full time faculty are required to attend and participate in three (3), twenty-four hour, Professional Weekend Residencies Weekends per academic year. Outside of classroom commitments, faculty maintain a strong commitment to student success. Faculty Leadership and Scholarship (20%): 20% (~8 hours weekly) of the faculty's time is devoted to: Collaborate with fellow faculty members on curriculum and assessment design and review, including serving as subject matter experts and playing an active role in student outcome assessments and accreditation processes Mentor and coach other faculty when needed, including new faculty onboarding support. Explore, implement, and measure instructional best practices and innovative ideas for improved student outcomes. Engage in scholarship and research projects that align with university’s priorities and programmatic accreditation requirements Engage with program chairs and deans in growth and improvement initiatives. Additional Responsibilities: Apart from the above, faculty members will: Pursue professional development (20-24 hours annually). Participate in college and university governance, such as Program Advisory Council, Faculty Senate quarterly meetings, college faculty meetings, and faculty senate activities. Offer academic advice to referred students. Support the college and colleagues to uphold the institutional mission. Represent Westcliff professionally at internal and external events. Handle other assignments, projects or tasks as needed.
