About The Position

This position is part of the DoD SkillBridge Program, offering U.S. Armed Forces members an opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience through an apprenticeship during the last 180 days of their service. The Construction Foreman at TAIT oversees construction tasks, supervises on-site personnel and subcontractors, and coordinates projects to enhance profitability, surpass client expectations, and deliver high-quality results meeting or exceeding industry standards. Additionally, the Construction Foreman serves as the Job Site Safety Officer, responsible for implementing injury and illness prevention policies. This pivotal role reports directly to the Director and requires a background check, MVR, and physical/drug screening.

Requirements

Current Active Duty Servicemember
Separating from the Military in 4-12 months
Able to complete a minimum of 8 weeks and up to a maximum of 6 months SkillBridge apprenticeship.
Able to work 40 hours per week.
Mechanically minded.
3-5 years of relevant experience in commercial petroleum construction installation/supervision.
ICC UST Install/Retrofit, ICC UST Removal, ICC Service Technician, and Veeder Root certifications.
Strong judgment and adaptability to changing field conditions and requirements.
24 or 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate or current 8-hour refresher course.
Valid Driver’s License.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word).
Completion of background check, MVR, and physical/drug screening.
Clear and professional communication skills with clients and team members.
Ability to drive to job sites, occasionally covering extensive distances, up to 1000 miles per week.
Occasional out-of-town work required.
Strong organizational skills and commitment to maintaining good housekeeping practices.
Proficient in reading and interpreting design plans.
Capability to drive/haul a trailer to and from job sites.
Proficient in reading and interpreting machine diagnostic reports.
Navigate various job site terrains, including dirt, cement, asphalt, uneven concrete, etc.
Physical capability for climbing ladders and stairs, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, and twisting at the waist and neck.

Responsibilities

Lead and actively engage in all on-site activities, capturing comprehensive photo documentation for each phase.
Maintain a constant presence in the work area, unless temporarily relieved by an approved interim Foreman.
Coordinate material procurement, including gravel, concrete, etc., and document rental equipment.
Inspect and inventory delivered equipment/materials/parts, ensuring compliance with specifications.
Schedule and oversee inspections, liaise with inspectors, and manage subcontractor activities.
Conduct and document daily safety meetings, identifying and addressing potential hazards in the work area.
Enforce strict compliance with safety requirements for all personnel, ensuring cleanliness and security.
Promptly report accidents and incidents to the Project Manager or Construction Manager.
Manage the job schedule, addressing daily issues impacting timelines with the Construction Manager/Project Manager.
Ensure the project stays within allocated labor hours, consulting with the Construction Manager/Project Manager before implementing overtime.
Complete and submit daily logs.
Provide the Project Manager with installation/operating instructions for new equipment.
Complete and submit warranty documents for new equipment to the Project Manager and furnish detailed as-built drawings.
