ROOST Detroit is a beautifully designed, apartment-style hotel located inside the iconic and fully restored Book Tower in the heart of downtown Detroit. It blends the comfort of a modern residence with the service and sophistication of a boutique hotel, offering guests a warm, lived-in experience rooted in craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and a deep sense of place. Each apartment-style unit features full kitchens, custom furnishings, curated artwork, and residential-inspired details. The property is complemented by a collection of shared spaces—including a lush lobby lounge, library, and communal areas—that reflect Method Co.’s signature approach to hospitality. Located within Book Tower’s vibrant mixed-use community, ROOST Detroit serves as both a home base for extended stays and a stylish retreat for travelers. ROOST Detroit is seeking a seasoned, guest-centric Front Office Director to lead all front-of-house operations and ensure a seamless, elevated experience for every guest. This role oversees the full Front Office team—including front desk, concierge, and guest services—and partners closely with Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Property Leadership to uphold ROOST’s service standards. The ideal candidate is a polished communicator, a strategic thinker, and a hands-on leader who thrives in a design-driven environment and understands how to balance operational excellence with genuine hospitality.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of hotel front office experience, with at least 2 years in a management or director-level role
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, coach, and develop teams
  • Exceptional communication and guest-service skills
  • Proficiency with hotel PMS/reservation systems and operational reporting
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in boutique, lifestyle, or luxury hospitality strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for all front-of-house operations, ensuring a warm, efficient, and brand-aligned guest experience
  • Oversee the Front Office leadership team, including Front Office Manager, Supervisors, and Guest Service Associates
  • Develop and implement service standards, SOPs, and training programs that reflect ROOST’s elevated hospitality ethos
  • Maintain a strong presence in the lobby and public spaces, modeling guest engagement and service excellence
  • Partner with Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Property Leadership to ensure seamless communication and operational flow
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, payroll, and performance management for the Front Office team
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of front-of-house staff
  • Manage guest recovery efforts with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment
  • Ensure accuracy in reporting, billing, and financial controls related to Front Office operations
  • Analyze guest feedback, operational data, and service trends to drive continuous improvement
  • Support property-wide initiatives, brand standards, and special projects as needed
