Under the supervision of the Group Sales or Department Manager, the Team Leader provides daily direction to associates within a store department, covering merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, sales enhancements, stocking, and customer service. This role supports the Group Sales Manager (GSM) / Department Manager (DM) in achieving departmental sales, gross margin, inventory shrinkage, and payroll goals. The Team Leader is responsible for ensuring a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers, executing merchandising directives, and maintaining plan-o-grams. Key responsibilities also include assisting the GSM / DM and Human Resources Manager with staffing, interviewing, training coordination, performance appraisal input, weekly scheduling, and motivating associates. The position involves resolving customer and associate issues, maintaining high customer service standards, acting as a product expert, and coordinating special events. The Team Leader assists the GSM / DM in supervisory duties, including planning, assigning work, evaluating performance, and addressing complaints, while fostering a positive, harassment-free environment. Ultimately, the role aims to provide a legendary customer experience by identifying needs, making product recommendations, and promoting company programs.
