About The Position

Front Desk Team Member is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to visitors and patrons of the park district to ensure visitors have a positive experience.

Requirements

  • Must be able to multi-task
  • While performing this job, the employee is required to speak and listen, stand, walk and use hands, sit, and stoop or kneel, bend and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements include, distance, color vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee must be able to follow supervisor direction with safe follow through and exercise good judgment and safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and welcoming visitors to the park district, and answering any questions they may have regarding park district programs, facilities, and activities.
  • Providing information to visitors about park district policies and procedures, including rules and regulations, fees and charges, and program registration procedures.
  • Register customers for programs using RecTrac software.
  • Process payments accurately via cash, checks, credit cards.
  • Balance daily work, handle cash according to procedures.
  • Answer email, walk-in and phone inquiries for customers, coaches, staff, and public.
  • Handling customer inquiries, complaints, and issues in a professional and courteous manner, and escalating more complex issues to higher-level staff members as necessary.
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks, such as filing, data entry, and document preparation, as needed.
  • Maintains files and records.
  • Membership passes-register, take pictures, issue cards.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
  • Track program changes to inform the public.
  • Report any unsafe conditions.
  • Assist other departments as needed.
  • Monitor current weather conditions and activate appropriate alerts.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assure a safe and hazard free environment by inspecting and taking the necessary action to correct and safeguard against potential problems and/or accidents.
  • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures now in effect or adopted in the future.
  • Employee must be able to follow directions with safe follow through and exercises good judgment and safety awareness.
  • Employee will use all required PPE.
  • All unsafe conditions are to be reported to your supervisor immediately.

Resources that outline these policies and procedures include the Board Policy Manual, Personnel Policy Manual, Safety Manual, Departmental Manual, Area or Job Specific Manuals and other written or verbal procedures as provided by your supervisor. As all situations cannot be documented even in manuals such as these, it is further expected that your actions as an employee are always performed with safety in mind, respect of your fellow staff and customers in mind, and at the direction of your supervisor. It is expected that all staff will learn and understand these policies and procedures.
