About The Position

As a Front Desk Receptionist (On-Call), you serve as the first point of contact for our organization, creating a welcoming and organized environment for visitors, volunteers, and staff. This role provides backup coverage for front desk operations and supports a positive, mission-driven experience for all who engage with Kids’ Food Basket. Even in a temporary role, your work matters. You help create a space where people feel welcomed, connected, and inspired to support a mission that makes a real difference in the lives of children.

Requirements

• High school diploma and at least 1 year of relevant experience (reception, customer service, or administrative support)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through
• A positive, welcoming demeanor with a strong customer service mindset
• An assets-based perspective and ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Interest in learning about hunger, food access, and community impact in West Michigan

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors, answer and direct phone calls, and create a warm, inclusive first impression
• Support a positive volunteer and guest experience through friendly interaction and clear communication
• Maintain front desk, café, hospitality, and retail areas to ensure they are clean, stocked, and inviting
• Monitor and manage general office email and voicemail, routing messages to appropriate team members
• Coordinate and order supplies for shared spaces and hospitality areas
• Assist with welcome screens, shared spaces, and other tasks to support smooth daily operations
