About Tanager Since 1879, we’ve been dedicated to supporting children and families in Linn County and as the first children's human services agency in the county, our mission continues to evolve with the needs of our community. Today, we serve over 4,000 children and teens annually through prevention, treatment, and outreach programs. We’re more than a non-profit — we’re a community of caregivers working together to Inspire, Empower, and Heal. Position Overview The CDF Freedom Schools® program is a direct service initiative coordinated nationally by the Children’s Defense Fund in partnership with Tanager. The program serves students at Roosevelt Creative Corridor Business Academy (formally Roosevelt Middle School) & McKinley STEAM Academy (formally McKinley Middle School). The activity based Integrated Reading Curriculum, which is aligned to the Common Core State Standards, integrates reading, conflict resolution and social action, and is designed to promote social, cultural, and historical awareness. This position will also offer the opportunity to express your creative side through leading an enrichment program to include art, music, nature, and other personal interests. Each CDF Freedom Schools Servant Leader Intern serves as the teacher for a maximum of ten students. The dates for this seasonal position are June 1st - July 31st. Candidates must be available to travel to Knoxville, TN for a paid training trip from June 2nd - June 7th. Please note that there is a modified training rate for this trip. Why Choose Tanager?
