About The Position
The Freedom Schools Reading Specialist (RS) plays a vital role in supporting student literacy development in the Freedom Schools Summer Movement Program. This position focuses on administering assessments, delivering targeted language arts instruction, and mentoring Servant Leader Interns to ensure scholars receive high-quality academic support.
Requirements
- Current K-12 Teaching Certification
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a Language Arts setting
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or a related field
- Ability to pass a BCI/FBI background check
Responsibilities
- Administering pre- and post-tests for language arts to assess scholar progress.
- Providing one-on-one and small group language arts instruction and interventions.
- Identifying individual scholar academic needs and skill deficits.
- Observing, mentoring, and providing oversight to Servant Leader Interns.
- Reporting academic progress and data to the Lead Reading Specialist routinely.
- Attending weekly meetings to review program effectiveness and discuss student progress
