About The Position

We're seeking a Founding Recruiter with a strong technical bent to lead talent acquisition for an ambitious fintech startup revolutionizing business banking and cash management for brands selling physical goods. You'll be the go-to expert for engineering and product hires, with the flexibility to support go-to-market and operations roles as the team expands from 35 to 50+ employees in the coming year. This is a hands-on, high-impact position where you'll work closely with the executive team and founders in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. No micromanagement—just real ownership to attract, evaluate, and close world-class talent that drives our mission to turn banking from a cost center into a profit center through automation and smart financial tools.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of recruiting experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments (startups preferred), with a track record as an early or founding recruiter building functions from the ground up.
  • Proven success scaling recruiting organizations from Series A to Series B/C stages, ideally in fintech, AI, or early-stage startups.
  • Strong technical recruiting expertise: Ability to source, engage, and excite engineers and product talent with a solid understanding of technical roles.
  • Excellent sourcing skills for passive candidates at elite tech firms or innovative startups (think alumni from Shopify, Stripe, Rippling, or similar).
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity: Proactive, self-directed, and relationship-focused with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with modern tools like Ashby (ATS) and LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Must be based in New York or Toronto (5 days in-office; slight preference for NY).
  • No visa sponsorship available.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, fintech, or companies with strong engineering cultures (e.g., Chime, Brex, Figma, Notion).
  • A history of flexing into GTM (sales/marketing) and operations hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full-cycle recruiting process: sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers, and closing across technical and non-technical functions.
  • Partner with hiring managers (including founders) to define role requirements, craft interview strategies, and align on high-bar talent standards.
  • Build and nurture robust candidate pipelines through proactive outreach, networking, LinkedIn Recruiter, and collaborations with external agencies—focusing on passive talent from top-tier tech companies and startups.
  • Champion exceptional candidate experiences with timely communication, personalized engagement, and a seamless process to excite and convert top performers.
  • Track key metrics like time-to-fill, offer acceptance rates, and pipeline health to optimize strategies and demonstrate recruiting's ROI.
