About The Position

The mission of Family Support Services is to be the leader in providing safety, stability, and quality of life for all children by working with the community to strengthen the family unit. The Foster Care Recruitment and Retention Specialist plays a crucial role in achieving this mission by focusing on the recruitment and retention of family foster homes. This involves extensive community outreach, attending scheduled events, and assisting with retention efforts. The specialist is responsible for ensuring the availability of various types of foster homes, including traditional foster homes, specialized homes for teens, large sibling groups, emergency respite, human trafficking safe homes, and homes for children with developmental disabilities. The role necessitates close collaboration with both outside licensing agencies and internal departments to meet these objectives.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Complete a Level II Background screening (Live Scan) in which fingerprints will be used to conduct the screening.
  • Clear a local background check from the County in which you reside.
  • Clear a substance abuse screen.
  • Provide copies of all degrees prior to your first day of employment.
  • Clear a Motor Vehicles Record check and must be insurable under the company’s automobile policy.
  • Provide copy of driver’s license.
  • Provide copy of automobile insurance if deemed to be a driving risk.
  • Positive references.
  • Clear an E-Verify check to substantiate that the successful candidate meets the Department of Homeland Security authorization requirements to work in the United States.
  • Candidate cannot be a current foster parent in NE Region or have been a foster parent in NE Region within the last 2 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Prior experience in sales and/or business development.
  • Experience as a foster parent.
  • Certifications in Child Welfare/Child Protection.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for receiving and completing phone inquiries and face to face meetings with prospective foster families with goal of ensuring they meet screening requirements and are able to move on to enrollment in pre-service training.
  • Responsible for the tracking of all recruitment community outreach efforts and events.
  • Responsible for compiling and reporting key recruitment information such as lead source, outcomes, etc.
  • Responsible for coordination, planning and attendance at community events, orientation nights, and targeted faith based outreach for recruitment and partnership.
  • Represent FSS at Foster Home Association meetings, community events, and annual conferences as needed.
  • Responsible for recruiting Foster Friendly Businesses and maintaining partnership.
  • Work in collaboration with training, licensing, placement and community development as needed for coordinating events or business needs.
  • Assist with outreach to foster parents for retention as necessary.
  • Participating in FSS Quarterly Training series and other volunteer events associated with licensing.
  • Attend foster home risk committee meetings as needed.
  • Attend monthly Foster Care Review Committee meetings at DCF when deemed necessary.
  • Work closely with FSS Kids Central on various placement and foster parent needs.
  • To treat foster parents, the public and co-workers with courtesy, respect and dignity and present a positive public image.
  • Perform other duties.
