About The Position

Surf Air Mobility is seeking highly skilled Forward Deployment Engineers to join its Surf Technologies division. This team builds Surf OS, the company’s operating system for air mobility operations. These roles sit at the intersection of Palantir Foundry data integration and full-stack software engineering (Node.js, React.js, DynamoDB). Forward Deployment Engineers will act as the technical front line between Surf Air Mobility and its internal/external partners, responsible for deploying and optimizing Surf OS data flows, building client-specific integrations, and enabling data-driven operational intelligence within the Palantir ecosystem.

Requirements

  • 3–7+ years of hands-on experience working within the Palantir stack (Foundry, pipelines, ontology, AIP, Apollo).
  • Deep understanding of data integration, data modeling, and ETL pipeline design.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React.js, and AWS data services.
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional and client teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Math, or related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in aviation, airline operations, logistics, or transportation systems.
  • Familiarity with building analytical dashboards, workflow automation, or operational data systems.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and deploy data pipelines connecting Surf OS to Palantir Foundry and related systems.
  • Design, implement, and maintain ETL workflows, ontology mappings, and transformations in Palantir.
  • Build full-stack applications and APIs using Node.js, React.js, and AWS (DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, API Gateway).
  • Collaborate with engineering PODs to ensure consistent data models and API standards across Surf OS.
  • Partner with operations, data science, and business teams to translate aviation use cases into scalable technical solutions.
  • Serve as the client-facing technical representative during Surf OS onboarding, deployment, and optimization.
  • Support system performance tuning, monitoring, and reliability improvements.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers in Palantir development best practices.
