About The Position

About OpenCoreOS • We're building the first open-source "Thin Ledger", designed to replace legacy core systems with a Golang-based, Protobuf-defined, event-driven platform powered by Kafka, Redis, and multi-region CockroachDB/YugabyteDB. • Our platform is AI-native from the ground up: autonomous SRE agents, AI-generated runbooks, and everything-as-code—from policies to infrastructure definitions. • We're mission-critical by default, targeting five-nines uptime and multi-region failover for regulated institutions. • We work openly and fast, and colocate in Huckletree, Liverpool St, London for in-person collaboration, supported by async-friendly workflows. What you'll do Customer-facing engineer: As part of a forward deployed Pod consisting of business and technical skillsets, act as the customer-facing engineer to translate business needs into software that works in Production at Tier 1 banks Architect: Embed within the bank’s architecture and infrastructure teams to design the bank’s future state architecture leveraging OpenCoreOS to unlock accelerated innovation by architecting distributed systems for resilience, scale, and five-nines reliability Integration: Integrate OpenCoreOS into customer cloud estates leveraging AI to accelerate progress Build: Build a digital twin from the bank’s existing core, debug client data and write data pipelines between the bank’s existing systems, and develop proof of concepts Test: Run performance tests and validate scale and resilience Who you are AI-native engineer: Engineer who naturally integrates AI into your workflow using advanced AI tools Systems builder: Proven track record shipping robust, scalable infrastructure in Golang or similar languages (e.g., Java) Cloud: Background in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and experience with SRE principles Versatile & resourceful: Natural ability to switch between coding, DevOps, product thinking, communicating and testing Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication Fintech experience: Knowledge of financial transaction flows or banking technology Strong problem-solver and ownership: Embrace complexity, finding elegant solutions for large-scale, regulated systems and owning outcomes Customer-focused: Driven to understand and solve real customer problems Security mindset: Understanding of secure coding practices and experience with high compliance systems

Requirements

  • AI-native engineer: Engineer who naturally integrates AI into your workflow using advanced AI tools
  • Systems builder: Proven track record shipping robust, scalable infrastructure in Golang or similar languages (e.g., Java)
  • Cloud: Background in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) and experience with SRE principles
  • Versatile & resourceful: Natural ability to switch between coding, DevOps, product thinking, communicating and testing
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Fintech experience: Knowledge of financial transaction flows or banking technology
  • Strong problem-solver and ownership: Embrace complexity, finding elegant solutions for large-scale, regulated systems and owning outcomes
  • Customer-focused: Driven to understand and solve real customer problems
  • Security mindset: Understanding of secure coding practices and experience with high compliance systems

Nice To Haves

  • Distributed systems: Experience with concurrency patterns, event-driven architectures, message queues, and multi-region databases
  • Compliance: Familiarity with PCI DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or similar frameworks

Responsibilities
