Forming Operator - Level 1 (2nd Shift)
About The Position
The Forming Operator Level 1 is an entry-level role responsible for safely performing a variety of forming tasks under close supervision. Operators will follow work instructions, use templates, jigs, and fixtures, and apply customer specifications to complete forming operations. They will also assist higher-level operators and perform general shop help tasks as needed. This position requires basic mechanical aptitude, the ability to read technical documents and prints, and the use of basic hand tools and measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, and calipers. Typically requires 0-1 years of experience.
Requirements
- Ability to use basic hand tools and air/power tools
- Ability to use measuring tools such as scales, micrometers, calipers, and feeler gauges to complete inspections
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn forming operations
- Comfort using basic hand tools, light equipment, and measuring instruments
- Formal work experience preferred but not required (0-1 years)
Responsibilities
- Perform basic forming tasks under direct supervision, including loading raw material onto fixtures, jigs, and presses
- Carry out forming operations using basic equipment and tools according to customer specifications
- Perform basic inspections to verify parts meet specifications
- Maintain work area organization and cleanliness throughout the shift
- Support shop operations by assisting higher-level operators with various tasks
- Provide general shop help as assigned, including handling materials, preparing work areas, and supporting production flow
- Entry-level operators will primarily focus on stretch forming operations
