ELS is hiring for the position of Forklift Driver in Cortez, Florida. What you’ll do: The Forklift Driver operates and manages forklift trucks to load and unload boats to various locations at the marina. The forklift driver position moves boats, jet skis and other items as needed for maintenance projects to and from storage facilities, water, work racks, trailers and from one place to another on property while maintaining the highest possible safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience driving industrial vehicles, preferably forklifts.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record and current auto insurance.
  • Current certification to operate forklifts in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent physical condition and the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require good hand-eye-foot coordination and sense of balance.
  • Ability to assess and judge weights, distances and heights.
  • Ability to work in various temperatures according to seasonal weather variations.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and move boats to water, trailer and rackspace as directed in Speedy Dock.
  • Perform new boat inspections- including length, height, beam and condition of boat for each new boat that arrives at the property.
  • Maintain radio contact with dock and office staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Utilize Speedy Dock for each boat move.
  • Stay current on launches and retrievals per driver.
  • Identify and report damages, shortages and/or deficiencies as necessary.
  • Aid Dock Staff in maintaining a clean, well-kept marina, fueling boats and collecting boats from basin as needed.
  • Assist and greet clients.
  • Inspect fork trucks and marina machinery, perform regular maintenance (e.g., recharging batteries and lubricating equipment) and determine repair needs.
  • Keep updated daily records of forktruck inspections.
  • Be responsible for walkie talkie and tablets- collect each morning, put on charger each night.
  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintenance/repair projects as requested.
  • Ensure a safe, efficient and injury-free working environment.
