The Fork Truck/Lift Operator operates an industrial fork lift truck within the distribution center to load, unload and move goods and salvage from trailers to storage areas and the operation of the textile baler. The position is also responsible for light operator maintenance on the fork truck and bale machine. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Inspects product load for accuracy, and safely moves it around the facility to ensure timely and complete delivery. Operates forklift to move bales of textiles to be weighed and stored. Loads trailers with weighed bales, records weights and keeps inventory of stored salvage bales. Manually or mechanically loads and unloads materials from pallets, skids and platforms. Operates bale machine and ensures all bales are tied with five wires. Cleans baler daily and replaces bale wire as needed. Performs routine preventive maintenance on fork truck and baler, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling or replacing liquefied gas tank. Informs Dock Supervisor when repair of equipment is needed.Keeps area free of unbaled clothing and debris. Performs other duties as assigned.
