About The Position

This position performs the sorting and scanning of all forensic documents, including complete case files, photographs, fingerprints, cremation permits, decedent identification cards, and any other documentation relevant to forensic case files, to be uploaded into the Death Investigation and Decedent Information (DIDI) database or as otherwise directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, specialized training preferred.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, printer, facsimile machine, photocopier machine, scanners, and other equipment required to perform job functions.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and internet software.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years of experience with medical terminologies and archiving preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously updates and maintains forensic archives
  • Knowledge and compliance with the Tennessee State codes (§38-7-110(c), Postmortem Examination Division) regarding medical examiner records, record retention, and public documents
  • Knowledge and compliance with the policies and procedures of the medical examiner's office
  • Knowledge and compliance with customer service and telephone etiquette
  • Receives telephone inquiries to the office and routes call to appropriate personnel
  • Appropriately receives and handles complaints and inquiries from the general public, families of decedents, and outside agencies
  • Knowledge and compliance with safety procedures
  • Ability to follow oral and written instruction
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, printer, facsimile machine, photocopier machine, scanners, and other equipment required to perform job functions.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and internet software.
