About The Position

As a Food Service Specialist, you will provide a well-stocked, well-maintained department while delivering superior customer service. This role involves preparing, packaging, and merchandising fresh product daily, adhering to all department and food safety/sanitation standards. Specialization in a production area, such as a Tortilleria, may be required.

Requirements

  • 1+ years Experience
  • Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (e.g., PC, symbol, scales, label machine)
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reading and writing skills
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • HS Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Completion of food safety and sanitation training, and training on equipment operation, cleaning, maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Proactively provide superior customer service.
  • Take orders from customers by telephone or in person.
  • Answer customer questions regarding products and assist with selections.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Apply expertise / experience to prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively; focus on inspecting for quality.
  • Slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality.
  • Assist in technical areas as needed (e.g., more difficult set-up and clean-up; operation of Tortilleria).
  • Use advanced selling techniques and advanced product knowledge and experience to meet customer needs and build department sales.
  • Clean and sanitize display cases.
  • Operate and maintain all / more complex equipment properly.
  • Comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Comply with department / Store operating procedures.
  • Ensure service counter Customers are greeted and taken care of in a timely manner.
  • Manage Make Ready application (TMR) for e-Commerce orders throughout the day.
  • Use Fresh Production Planner; ensure all inventory processes are complete and product is prepared in the quantities called for on the planner.
  • Perform inventory management processes (MSI, PAW) as required.
  • Assist in training other Partners.
  • Ensure catering orders are prepared and ready in time for Customer pickup, if applicable.
  • Communicate product inventory concerns to the Lead or Manager.
  • Provide product demos and product education to Customers.
  • Ensure all sanitation and maintenance tasks for Deli slicers are followed.
