What You Can Expect: Food Services Purchasing Assistant, under supervision, is responsible for ordering food, supplies, and/or equipment for food services. Follows through with vendors on shipment and delivery. Receives and unload freight. Verify items received with purchase order, ensure proper temperatures of delivered foods and correct products/brand received. Conducts inventory to ensure an adequate level of supplies is maintained. Rotate, date and discard all food products per standards. Inspects products received for quality and quantity to ensure adherence to specifications. Distributes food, chemical and paper products to kitchens, and food service areas outside of kitchen as needed. Order supplies, ensuring that all paperwork is completed accurately. Resolves basic issues using knowledge of procedures and policies. Refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Performs clerical duties as assigned. Expenses and transfer supplies to departments. Maintains records and follow up files of purchases, shipments, and related matters. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
