About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Culinary Operations, the Food Services Manager oversees food service operations across all Canopy Care Solutions assisted living facilities, ensuring meals are nutritious, safe, and thoughtfully aligned with resident needs and regulatory requirements. This role provides hands-on leadership to food services staff while collaborating closely with clinical partners to deliver a consistent, high-quality food service experience. The position also collaborates with PACE and Savory Fare to integrate shared resources and initiatives that enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

  • 5 years of related experience including culinary and/or field experience, Required
  • Rhode Island Food Safety Manager Certification, Required
  • Driver's License & access to reliable transportation: community-based travel required
  • Physical ability to regularly stoop, bend, kneel, lift, stand, walk, stretch and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to tolerate prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to regularly lift objects up to 35 pounds and at times up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises as well as related community care settings.
  • Must be able to tolerate conditions typically associated within a medical office and/or home care setting including potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.
  • Must be able to tolerate working and standing in a heated commercial kitchen preparing meals and regularly lifting pans of food up to 50 pounds.

  • 3 years of staff supervision experience, preferred.
  • 1-3 years of assisted living dining experience, preferred.
  • Certified Dietary Manager, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Canopy Care Solutions dining services program across all associated Assisted Living facilities, ensuring consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Plans, coordinates, and manages food and supply purchasing, inventory control, and vendor ordering processes, ensuring adequate stock levels at all times, including required emergency food reserves.
  • Maintains accurate and complete departmental records, including food production, inventory, meal counts, income and expenses, regulatory documentation, and personnel records.
  • Develops and manages dining services staffing schedules, daily assignments, and coverage for time-off requests and call-outs; serves as on-call support after hours and on weekends as required.
  • Modifies and implements menus in accordance with state, local, and CMS regulations, ensuring alignment with nutritional standards and accommodating resident allergies, intolerances, and prescribed dietary needs.
  • Utilizes menu and nutrition software to provide accurate nutritional information for residents, dietitians, and clinical teams.
  • Ensures full compliance with CMS dietary documentation and Department of Health requirements, including temperature logs, menus on site, food storage and rotation, sanitation, and kitchen safety standards.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces standardized food safety and sanitation programs for all dining services staff and affiliated workers; conducts regular inspections of kitchens and food service areas.
  • Collaborates closely with clinical and interdisciplinary teams to assess resident needs, including special diets, diet changes per dietitian orders, take-home meal programs, and food donation initiatives; ensures timely and accurate documentation in resident records.
  • Leads customer satisfaction and feedback processes in partnership with program leadership; monitors results, follows up on concerns, and implements service improvements as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with food service vendors and partners; addresses service issues promptly and ensures contractual and operational expectations are met.
  • Plans, organizes, and oversees special events, celebrations, and catering services within Assisted Living facilities.
  • Engages in and supports promotional and outreach efforts for the facilities, which may include food demonstrations, catering events, and engaging with families and prospective residents.
  • Collaborates with and supports associated business partner initiatives from PACE and Savory Fare, integrating programs, resources, and best practices where opportunities align with Canopy Care Solutions operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
