About The Position

As a Summer Camp Kitchen Assistant, you’ll support the Food Services Coordinator in preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks to campers and staff while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment. Your work helps keep camp running smoothly—and campers fueled for fun.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Prior kitchen or food service experience preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work closely with administrative staff, teachers, children, and parents
  • Willingness to complete job-specific training, including food safety certification

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks that meet Child Care Food Program requirements
  • Maintaining clean, sanitary kitchen facilities and equipment
  • Following all local and state Health Department regulations
  • Assisting with purchasing food and kitchen supplies
  • Supporting menu planning to ensure meals are healthy and appealing
  • Monitoring food inventory and controlling food costs
  • Keeping accurate records of meals served and quantities
  • Supervising kitchen volunteers alongside the Food Services Coordinator
  • Filling in for the Food Services Coordinator when needed
