Hershey Medical Center (HMC), a prestigious 628-bed academic medical center and the flagship of the Penn State Health System. HMC is central Pennsylvania’s only locally based academic medical center, a Magnet-designated hospital since 2007, and the only medical facility in Pennsylvania accredited as a Level 1 Trauma Center for both children and adults. Requirements

  • Food service management experience in a high-volume environment
  • Strong frontline leadership and team development skills
  • Ability to manage large patient meal operations with attention to quality and service
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (typically 5:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m. start)
  • Passion for delivering compassionate, patient-focused service
  • Minimum Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED or EquivalentMinimum Management Experience - 1 year

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a union environment preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily patient meal service operations across patient care units
  • Lead implementation and execution of HealthTouch platform and Experiencia initiatives
  • Support bedside ordering model and traditional patient meal delivery systems
  • Direct tray line operations serving approximately 300 patient meals per service
  • Manage and support a team of approximately 25 frontline employees
  • Supervise scheduling, delegation, and daily workflow to meet service standards
  • Conduct gold check audits and prepare performance reports
  • Establish operating standards and implement continuous quality improvements
  • Build strong relationships with hospital leadership and key clinical partners
  • Ensure compliance with Sodexo standards, food safety, and regulatory guidelines
  • Support inclusion initiatives and foster a collaborative client partnership
