About The Position

The Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) is seeking a Food Service Manager 2 to coordinate or manage food service operations in its CHJCF institutional setting. DYS's mission is to improve Ohio's future by habilitating youth and empowering families and communities, believing that all youth should have the opportunity to reach their greatest potential and that staff are their greatest resource. DYS serves as the juvenile corrections system for Ohio, confining felony offenders aged 10-21 who have been adjudicated and committed by county juvenile courts. Youth at DYS facilities engage in programming designed to address their criminological and behavioral needs. Requirements

  • Completion of 2 yr. trg. program in food service preparation or hospitality management technology or 2 yrs. exp. in food service preparation
  • 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques
  • Knowledge of food service preparation
  • Knowledge of food service management
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles/techniques
  • Knowledge of food service sanitation & safety
  • Experience with food purchasing & specifications
  • Ability to apply principles to solve practical everyday problems
  • Ability to write accurate reports
  • Ability to gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things

Responsibilities

  • Orders food & supplies from storeroom &/or vendors
  • Prepares related records & reports (e.g., sanitation, cycle menus, daily production sheets, quarterly &/or monthly cost estimates)
  • Attends & conducts staff meetings
  • Meets with dietitian to discuss changes &/or modifications
  • Attends committee meetings
