About The Position

The Food Safety & Compliance Specialist will provide support to FIFCO USA quality systems, raw material programs, inspection processes, input data, and prepare reports for company-wide and customers programs - as they related to Quality and food safety.

Requirements

  • HACCP and preventive controls experience
  • Regulatory knowledge and compliance – FDA/FSMA, USDA, SQF, GFSI, etc.
  • Audit and inspection management
  • Documentation and record keeping
  • Associate’s degree
  • Three years of related experience or equivalent work experience.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • HHACCP/HARPC certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a food/beverage production facility is a plus.
  • Statistical knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of food safety and compliance audit programs.
  • Help maintain existing policies, procedures, and manuals to stay in full compliance with current internal, 2nd, and 3rd party audit agencies while further developing and revising those documents as regulations and requirements change.
  • Perform GFSI-based document and “on the floor” auditing with detailed action plans outlining root cause, corrective, and preventative action plans as required.  Including vendor and contract facilities.
  • Daily food safety and quality-related document review/auditing.
  • Lead traceability and mock recall program.
  • Train internal audit team members.
  • Help lead HACCP program management and development (as needed).
  • Help lead change management responsibilities related to food safety and quality compliance.
  • Work with the Wholesaler Sales & Consumer Affairs team, in conjunction with quality team members, on all food safety-related customer and consumer complaints
  • Reads, writes, and interprets documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Reads, analyzes and interprets standard trade journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Effectively presents information to top management, employees, managers, vendors, and customers.
  • Works with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts and draws valid conclusions.
  • Interprets various technical instructions in mathematical or written form and deal with abstract and concrete variations.
