About The Position

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is the state of Florida’s social services agency. The agency oversees services for child safety, fostering, adoption, domestic violence, adult protective services, refugees, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, childcare providers, human trafficking and public assistance. The agency’s mission is to work in partnership with local communities to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and resiliency. Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders. Northeast Florida State Hospital (NEFSH) is a 613-bed, licensed mental health treatment facility that provides person-centered services to adults suffering from severe and persistent mental illness. The hospital, located in Macclenny, was established in 1959 and is the largest state operated civil treatment facility. This is a highly responsible and professional position serving as a Food Production & Svs Supv - SES within the Dietary Department. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player who works seamlessly across all sections within the program office. This role requires the use of independent judgment, a proactive approach to responsibilities, and exceptional attention to detail. Requirements

  • Knowledge of the equipment, procedures and techniques used in food service.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
  • Knowledge of food service safety and sanitary procedures.
  • Ability to estimate food and supply requirements.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations.
  • Ability to supervise people.
  • Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • One year of cooking/food preparation experience.
  • One year in a key holder/management position.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises kitchen employees in the proper preparation, cooking and serving of foods to ensure optimum customer satisfaction.
  • Insures that subordinates have the appropriate equipment to accomplish their duties as needed. Completes performance evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Reviews menus and determines amount of food to be taken from storage for the preparation of meals. Insures subordinates are utilizing the appropriate serving utensils.
  • Trains subordinates in the preparation of foods and the correct usage of dietary equipment to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Inspects kitchen area on a daily basis for efficiency and cleanliness.
  • Maintains shift records of employee schedules. Assigns replacement personnel as necessary. Reviews employee time sheets, insuring accuracy.
  • Attends in-service training and performs related duties assigned by the supervisor.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
