About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice is a multi-faceted agency that serves juveniles of the commonwealth. Requirements

  • EDUCATION: High school graduate.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of sub professional or professional experience in a food service operation.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the preparation of food and provides general cooking in a Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facility.
  • Prepares food and provides general cooking.
  • Prepares menus, consults with nutritionist, and other professional contacts.
  • Maintains records of amount of food served and number served.
  • Prepares all forms for federal school lunch program.
  • Maintains records for government commodities received and used, as well as provides forms to the Department of Agriculture.
  • Provides instructional kitchen skills to juveniles assigned to kitchen duties.
  • Ensures proper supervision of juveniles.
  • Prepares food requisitions and maintains food inventories.
  • Maintains logs and inventory books on received and used foods and supplies.
  • Maintains routine records for daily costs of meals.
  • Maintains and reports attendance on juveniles for federal programs.
  • Ensures new food items are received, checked, dated, and stored properly.
