The Academic Year Internship Program offers interns the opportunity to work on real projects, contribute to meaningful work, and develop skills within a collaborative environment over two full semesters. Focus Features specifically acquires and produces specialty films for the global market, maintaining a library of iconic movies. Requirements

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027).
  • December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
  • Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.
  • Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Brand Marketing team with global oversight of all brand components for franchise/event film launches, leading implementation of worldwide brand strategy and collaborating with divisions to optimize brands and business goals.
  • Support the Creative Advertising team in producing campaign materials such as trailers, tv spots, and keyart from development to execution for various movies for global use.
  • Support day-to-day studio communications, gain exposure to high-level messaging strategy, and help shape how Focus Features positions its films, filmmakers, and executives within Corporate Communications.
  • Support the Digital Marketing team on social activations across Focus Features brand channels and individual film titles, social research, content creation, in-app engagement tactics (i.e. Follow accounts/like posts from talent), and social editorial calendaring, including live social coverage at events.
  • Work on all paid marketing for theatrical titles as well as all award panels within the Media team, taking part in the planning and execution of upcoming titles.
  • Support the Partnerships & Promotions group, comprised of two teams (sales and creative execution with a designated focus on international and domestic territories), with the shared objective of developing and delivering third party branded campaigns for theatrical releases.
  • Help with preparing for press junkets, researching media outlets & contacts, and compiling coverage reports within Publicity.
  • Support the Publicity & Events team responsible for conceptualizing and executing a wide range of high-profile activations, from red carpet premieres and exclusive industry screenings to tastemaker events and special experiences.
