About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. This individual will use their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to join our team and positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or civil engineering.
  • 10+ years structural analysis experience in aerospace, Nuclear, or Process piping structural analysis.
  • Passion for structural analysis of spacecraft.
  • Ability to solve a variety of static and dynamic structural problems using physics-based analytical methods, such as hand calcs, in-house tools, and 3rd party commercial analytical tools.
  • Experience with any of the following FEM software (Nastran, Optistruct, ANSYS)

  • Experience with Cryogenic systems
  • Experience with piping stress and flexibility analysis
  • Experience with bellows analysis
  • Experience with bolted flange analysis
  • Experience with weld analysis
  • Experience with manufacturing methods, material selection, testing and characterizing of tubing.
  • Experience with any of the following piping analysis software (Autopipe, Ceasar, or CAEPIPE)
  • Experience with any of the following programing languages (VBA, Python)
  • Experience with Reengineering Wildfire 4 / CREO Parametric of greater

Responsibilities

  • Analysis from concept to drawing release of fluid system hardware.
  • Finite Element Model development, refinement, validation, and correlation to tests.
  • Strength checks and analysis report generation.
  • Test and verification plan and report generation.
  • Support configuration development and trade studies.
  • Process and tool development.
