About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will work to design, analyze, build, test, integrate, deliver, and operate fluids and propulsion subsystems on Lunar landers. Special Mentions: Relocation provided Occasional travel up to 15% of the time 1st Shift: 8am – 5pm Interviews will include a technical assessment

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in thermal fluids analysis and mechanical component design
  • Thermal Desktop experience
  • Experience with first order hand and excel level calculations for fluids analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Engineering degree
  • CFD experience (ANSYS Fluent and FLOW3D preferred)
  • Experience analyzing cryogenic, two phase liquid systems
  • Direct experience providing feedback for design iteration and optimization
  • Process automation experience using scripting (VBA, Matlab, Python, FORTRAN, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Generate and run thermos-fluids models of cryogenic propellant in spacecraft
  • Provide guidance on optimizing hardware configuration, mission conops and control logic
  • Quantitatively evaluate alternative trade studies and provide recommendations
  • Support complete life cycle of the Transporter vehicle from initial definition, conceptual design, detailed design, test support, verification, and in flight operation
  • Work with a cross functional team to advance the state of the art of in space cryogenic fluid management
