This is a management position. The Floral Manager must have the necessary confidence, commitment, and motivation to move their staff & themselves towards success. Due to Bristol Farms’ goals and structure, the Floral Manager should also be open to growth and expansion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities In addition to performing all required duties of a Floral Designer & Floral Clerk, the Floral Manager will take full responsibility for the operation of the Floral Department. Responsibility is defined as, but not limited to, operations, planning, directing, managing, and achieving targeted profits. In addition, the Floral Manager is directly responsible for staff development. The Floral Manager must cultivate a solid working relationship between himself/herself and his/her staff. Developing and instilling positive morale is the key to success of the Floral Department. He or she also performs the following duties (other duties may be assigned): Leads by example; models correct behavior and adherence to company policies and procedures.Required to perform all duties of the Floral Designer & Floral Clerk.Responsible for using the tools provided by management to ensure the success of the department.Must be knowledgeable of flowers, plants, and arrangements, including proper care; sold in the Bristol Gardens Department.Responsible for ordering, receiving and merchandising department products. Responsible for all items from the time the product is delivered to the back door until it is purchased by our customers. Orders merchandise or prepares requisitions to replenish merchandise on hand.Prices department merchandise according to handheld scanner and verifies price against purchase order. Reports/documents price discrepancies and “not on file” items.Processes purchase order for implementation at required deadline.Maintains high profit margin in accordance to the approved pre-set budget and pricing schedule, which entails, but is not limited to: sales goals, cost of goods, expenses, price changes and waste management.Ability to create “bold designs.”Assures proper displaying and selling of department products to customers and advises customers on quality of flowers, methods of handling flowers and plants, and other factors affecting this perishable product.Changes and/or moves displays to keep Floral Department fresh and appealing to the customer.Cleans shelves, counters, and tables.Operates a cash register following established policies and procedures.Responsible for the accurate recording of customer transactions, including the acceptance of payment in accordance with Bristol Farms’ cash register procedures.Responsible for accurate balancing of cash register.Maintenance of inventory control especially for theft, shrinkage, and storage.Assures low shrink and waste through proper ordering and inventory control.Responsible for inventory control, preparing for inventory, and inventory results.Takes customer orders for floral arrangements or any other special order in the Floral Department.Creates custom floral arrangements following customer’s specifications.Transfers merchandise used from other departments; completes appropriate paperwork.Ensures custom arrangement is accurately priced in accordance to Bristol Farms specified guidelines.Responsible for all schedule writing done fairly and objectively to drive the needs of the business. Responsible for controlling labor results, including overtime under the supervision of the Store Director. Supervises employees in; but not limited to, floral designs, sales work, displays, receiving, price integrity, taking inventory.Trains and coaches employee procedures and tasks for department. Under the direction of the Floral Manager is responsible for in-service training for all employees and documents all training.Special events - work on creativity and budget.Confers and plans arrangements according to customers’ requirements based on cost or selects appropriate standard design pattern.Trains employees on floral design.Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales, and record keeping procedures.Under the supervision of the Director of Bristol Gardens adheres to department budget and coordinates sales promotions.Responsible for implementing and maintaining all marketing programs.Trains all Floral employees in floral design, suggestive selling, merchandising, & customer service techniques on an on-going basis.Responsible for communication with the Store Director and Director of Bristol Gardens on all department related issues.Follows safety work standards and reports any safety hazards to Store Director.Conducts accident investigations and completes paperwork within accordance to Cal Osha SAB-198.Serves customers with a smile and willing attitude. Assures high sales through establishing relationships with customers to ensure repeat business.Handles customer complaints in such a manner to assure customer satisfaction.Availability requirements include; but not limited to days, evenings, weekends, holidays & occasional overnight.Follows and enforces polices & procedures set forth in the employees handbook at all times.At all times, meets and exceeds Bristol Farms standards in design, presentation, customer service, quality, cleanliness, and leadership.
