Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service.
  • Assists customers by making product suggestions and taking special orders in person or by phone.
  • Responds to incoming calls professionally; resolves customer complaints and escalates to the Store Director as needed.
  • Engages in suggestive selling using telephone interactions, in‑store intercom announcements, and one‑on‑one customer conversations.
  • Possesses detailed knowledge of all department duties and assists with preparation, display, and execution of floral product.
  • Creates floral designs and arrangements according to Company standards.
  • Upgrades plants, prepares bows, inflates balloons, and assembles bouquets.
  • Orders balloons, helium tanks, plants, flowers, accessories, and supplies; ensures freshness, quality, and proper product mix.
  • Responds to seasonal needs, special‑occasion merchandising requirements, sales trends, and customer requests.
  • Maintains floral case cleanliness, visual appeal, sanitation, and inventory levels.
  • Ensures appropriate temperatures are maintained for all phases of floral preparation, display, and storage.
  • Follows and maintains departmental standards for floral upgrades, balloon upgrades, and candy arrangements.
  • Schedules, supervises, trains, and assigns responsibilities to department employees.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels to support service expectations.
  • Monitors employee productivity and evaluates overall performance.
  • Trains employees in store policies, floral production, sales practices, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Identifies employees with potential for advancement and supports their growth and development.
  • Understands and enforces opening and closing procedures for the department.
  • Maintains working knowledge of Company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Ensures proper code‑dating procedures are followed for all floral products.
  • Plans daily operations and monitors production processes to ensure alignment with company procedures and profitability objectives.
  • Prepares sales and inventory reports; participates in physical inventory every four weeks.
  • Controls inventory levels to ensure sufficient product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stocks, rotates, and maintains product; keeps coolers, floral prep areas, and workspaces organized.
  • Controls shrink and manages departmental costs.
  • Processes administrative paperwork and maintains accurate department records.
  • Implements emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Performs receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Properly conditions and handles indoor/outdoor plants, shrubs, flowers, and all cut floral products.
  • Follows temperature, storage, processing, and packaging guidelines to maintain floral integrity.
  • Operates equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, stem cutters, choppers, wire tools, hot glue guns, spray paint, heat‑sealing machines, and helium tanks.
  • Complies with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensures proper pricing, signage, and code‑date compliance.
  • Maintains safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the work area, cooler, equipment, and display areas.
