About The Position

Shape the Survivability of the Nation’s Most Critical Systems At Lockheed Martin Space, we don’t just build spacecraft — we engineer strategic deterrence, national resilience, and mission assurance in the most demanding environments imaginable. The Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) program represents one of the most technically complex and nationally significant missile defense efforts underway. As a Loads & Dynamics Engineer on NGI, you will directly influence the structural integrity, survivability, and performance of flight hardware operating in extreme dynamic environments. This role is ideal for engineers who want to own high-consequence analyses, influence system architecture, and operate at the intersection of modeling, test, and mission execution. You will play a critical role in ensuring that NGI hardware performs flawlessly under extreme dynamic conditions. Why This Role This is not a support function — it is a mission-enabling discipline. Loads & Dynamics sits at the center of structural performance, survivability, and qualification. Your analysis will directly inform design decisions, risk posture, and mission assurance for one of the nation’s most critical defense systems. If you are motivated by high-impact technical challenges, national security mission, and the opportunity to influence system-level performance, we invite you to apply. Important Notes Candidates may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applying to this Expression of Interest opportunity introduces you to Lockheed Martin's job opportunities and promotes you to managers who are interested in hiring for multiple roles. This requisition is used to capture interested candidates in opportunities at Lockheed Martin. You can’t and will not be hired on this requisition. Actual levels, and locations will vary based on actual hiring job postings. Locations: Littleton, CO Huntsville, AL

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience performing static and structural dynamics analysis on spacecraft, missile, or aircraft systems
  • Proficiency with industry-standard tools such as ADAMS, NX Simulation, LS-DYNA, or equivalent dynamic analysis software
  • Experience using MATLAB (or similar) for analysis, post-processing, and data evaluation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance, thus US Citizenship is required

Nice To Haves

  • Strong foundation in structural dynamics, statics, strength of materials, and aerospace structures
  • Experience with rigid and flexible body dynamics modeling
  • Knowledge of component mode synthesis and substructuring methods (e.g., Craig-Bampton)
  • Experience analyzing composite and metallic structures and mechanisms
  • Background supporting environmental test campaigns (vibration, modal, acoustic, shock, separation)
  • Demonstrated success working in highly integrated, cross-disciplinary engineering teams
  • Ability to independently own complex analyses and drive issues to resolution

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural dynamics analyses supporting flight hardware across development and qualification phases
  • Develop and maintain high-fidelity analytical models simulating mechanical loads, shock, vibration, separation events, and mechanism dynamics
  • Define and mature primary structure and component-level load environments
  • Translate dynamic requirements into actionable system design criteria and integrate them into the program baseline
  • Plan and support static, vibration, modal, acoustic, separation, and shock test campaigns
  • Correlate analysis to test data and drive model refinement
  • Present technical findings at Engineering Review Boards, Technical Interchange Meetings, Test Readiness Reviews, and Design Reviews
  • Partner cross-functionally with stress, systems, aerodynamics, design, and test teams to resolve complex dynamic challenges
