We are looking for an Equipment Mechanic I to perform intermediate technical work across a diverse fleet—from standard SUVs and marine apparatus to specialized fire equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to perform maintenance/repairs on light duty vehicles (passenger cars, pickup trucks, SUV's, van, mini-busses, etc.) to include: replacing air, hydraulic and anti-lock brakes, repairing transmissions; repairing light duty gas and diesel engines, working on electrical systems, repairing heating and cooling systems, and repairing steering and suspension systems. They will also be able to perform repairs on ancillary equipment typical of municipal fleets including: lifts, light bars and lighting accessories. They should have experience troubleshooting and have experience with newer computerized diagnostic programs. A desire to learn/train on heavier duty systems and fire trucks is strongly desired. ✅ What you Will be doing - Under the limited supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor , you will part of our garage team, whom ensures every vehicle is safe and road-ready. Advanced Diagnostics: Utilize cutting-edge software and tools to troubleshoot complex electronic engines, HVAC, hydraulics, and safety systems. Full-Spectrum Maintenance: Handle everything from routine oil changes and tire rotations to intricate engine and brake repairs. Diverse Fleet: Work on light-duty cars, trucks, vans, mini-buses, trailers, and even marine equipment. Precision Fabrication: Apply fabrication methods to solve unique mechanical challenges. Support the Big Rigs: Assist the Level II team with heavy equipment and fire apparatus maintenance. ✅ WHAT YOU BRING Education: High School Diploma or GED. Experience: Moderate, hands-on experience in automotive equipment maintenance. Technical Savvy: General knowledge of gas/light diesel engines, electrical systems, and shop safety standards. The Credentials: Valid Driver’s License (appropriate class). Forklift Certification (or the ability to obtain it at hire). ASE Certification (Preferred—show us your expertise!).
