About The Position

The Fleet & Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, assembly, testing, and shipment of specialized field and shop equipment for leak detection. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on fabrication skills, and the ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment. The technician will work with vacuum pumps, PHD pressure tanks, ELD whips, test trees, DPleak and MCleak equipment, JB vacuum pumps, and fleet vehicles to ensure all tools and assets are operational, compliant, and ready for deployment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2–5 years of mechanical maintenance or equipment technician experience.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safe work procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of vacuum pumps, pressure systems, or industrial equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Electrical systems knowledge preferred
  • Experience with welding, metal fabrication, and equipment assembly preferred.
  • Aptitude for maintaining testing tools and calibration devices.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in shop/field environments as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to meet company’s employment requirements, which includes passing a drug screen, criminal background check, and MVR, if driving for the company
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to repetitively lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, stooping, standing 8-10 hours per day.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on fleet vehicles and trailers.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure DOT and company compliance.
  • Assemble, maintain, and repair:
  • Vacuum pumps
  • PHD pressure tanks
  • ELD whips
  • Test trees
  • JB vacuum pumps
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform necessary adjustments, rebuilds, or component replacements.
  • Maintain testing equipment used for pressure, leak, or vacuum integrity.
  • Fabricate, repair, and modify DPleak and MCleak equipment.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, measurements, and build specs.
  • Use welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication tools safely and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of equipment, parts, consumables, and tools.
  • Prepare, package, and ship equipment to field locations in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Track equipment movement and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Clean, organize, and maintain a safe and efficient shop environment.
  • Perform routine housekeeping, waste disposal, and tool organization.
  • Ensure equipment storage areas and test stations are orderly and functional.
