About The Position

Beacon's Fleet Maintenance Technicians ensure that all repairs and maintenance of equipment are performed in compliance with the Company’s safety standards and applicable federal and state regulations and is responsible for all equipment, trucks and bodywork, including, but not limited to, hydraulic, electrical, heating and air conditioning system maintenance and repair.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associates or higher degree in Applied Science or a Mechanical field
  • ASE Truck Certified
  • State certifications in steering, brakes, and suspension
  • 5+ years in maintenance, preferred shop environment
  • Knowledge of brake and other truck systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is a must
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems
  • Skilled in the use of power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Skilled in acetylene and electric arc welding
  • Skilled in the operation of Class 8 trucks, various vehicles and equipment for diagnostics purposes
  • Valid drivers’ license
  • Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision
  • Ability to operate lugger, hook truck, and rolloff equipment
  • Ability to communicate in English both written and verbally
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written procedures, container labels and all safety precautions
  • Attention to detail
  • Reliable attendance

Nice To Haves

  • Valid CDLA license is a plus
  • Fabrication experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintains expert knowledge of, and advanced working proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform complex repair maintenance functions, both on-site and on the road
  • Chassis component repair and maintenance
  • Multi, lift axles
  • PTO components
  • USDOT inspections
  • Refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems; and air and hydraulic braking systems
  • Engine repair and maintenance
  • Suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems
  • Heating and air conditioning systems
  • Occasional yard equipment repair
  • Performs repair diagnostics
  • Safely provides road service when necessary
  • Identifies the source of malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools
  • Work effectively with team members at all levels of the company as a positive, professional example
  • Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner consistent with our mission statement
  • Other duties as assigned
