About The Position

Established in 1984, KAR began by managing John Anderson’s family assets but gradually expanded its services to include relatives, friends, and eventually a wide range of clients—including high net-worth individuals, public organizations, corporations, endowments, and foundations. Today, the company operates as an affiliate of Virtus Investment Partners, a Hartford, Connecticut-based multi-boutique investment management firm. KAR’s internship program is an opportunity for top students to gain relevant work experience in various aspects of the Financial Services industry. The program offers interns challenging and meaningful work that allows them to demonstrate their abilities, apply knowledge acquired through college courses, and be evaluated for future employment opportunities within the Company. Our internships create opportunities for interns to establish important relationships with experienced professionals. Kayne Anderson Rudnick is seeing a highly motivated undergraduate intern to join our Fixed Income team within our Wealth Advisory group for this summer. This opportunity will be 8-10 weeks and will be in our Los Angeles office.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (rising junior or senior preferred)
  • Strong PC and Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Protect confidential documents and materials
  • Proactive thinking capability and ability to exercise good judgment

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing a range of financial analysis tools to assess Fixed Income performance
  • Exploring innovative methods to calculate returns, helping to identify variables responsible for differences in outcomes
  • Reviewing credit metrics from municipalities we hold by examining data across platforms such as MRSB's Emma system, S&P Credit analysis, issuer internal websites, Bitvore, and additional sources
  • Collaborating with the Fixed Income team on assorted ad hoc projects
