About The Position

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Silo Ridge Field Club, set in Amenia, New York. Silo Ridge Field Club is seeking a Fitness and Wellness Attendant to join the Fitness and Wellness Department. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees. Full time April-November. The Fitness and Wellness Attendant is responsible for supporting daily operations of the fitness and wellness spaces by ensuring all areas remain clean, organized, and welcoming. This includes maintaining a calm and orderly exercise room, refreshing supplies, and keeping equipment and amenities in proper condition. The Fitness Attendant also assists with wellness-focused offerings such as yoga, meditation, special events, and in-home spa services. This includes helping with setup, maintaining relaxation areas, and ensuring spa-like amenities are clean, stocked, and ready for use. Additionally, the role may involve operating—or learning to operate—a golf cart to transport supplies and support wellness services throughout the property.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, running, moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, heavy lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling sometimes in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to show up on time.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a fitness, wellness and/or customer service role preferred.
  • Knowledge of fitness equipment and exercise techniques is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations and ensure all fitness and wellness areas and experience are clean, organized and welcoming.
  • Greet and assist members and guests in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Monitor the fitness center, movement studio, and any areas designated for classes or fitness events to ensure the safety of all users and enforce facility rules.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitness and wellness equipment and props, locker rooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
  • Maintain the appearance of the fitness center, movement studio, and other fitness areas and event locations throughout the day, including stocking and re-stocking of items such as towel displays, food, and beverage items.
  • Attend to the laundering and folding of towels to maintain an adequate supply at all times.
  • Manage waste disposal by regularly inspecting, collecting, and properly discarding trash.
  • Be familiar with the functionality of all machines and be able to answer member inquiries regarding machines. Safety and enjoyment of participants are a priority.
  • Complete daily set-up/breakdown as requested.
  • Stay current on all activities offered and equipment related to recreational activities.
  • Provide basic instruction on equipment use and promote proper exercise techniques. Additional training is available to the qualified candidate.
  • Assist in setting up and organizing fitness and wellness classes and events.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to management.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing member inquiries and concerns.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as membership check-ins and record-keeping.
  • Provide daily activity reports.
