About The Position

Mary Schwartz Summit is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and organized Fitness & Life Enrichment Coordinator to join our Life Enrichment team. This role is responsible for planning and leading engaging fitness and life enrichment programs that support residents’ physical health, cognitive engagement, and overall quality of life. The ideal candidate is creative, dependable, and passionate about working with older adults in a vibrant senior living community.

Requirements

  • Experience working with older adults, preferably in senior living, healthcare, or community-based settings.
  • Certification, training, or experience in fitness instruction, personal training, or group exercise.
  • Experience developing or leading activities, educational programs, or enrichment programming.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage residents, families, and staff in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; newsletter or program communication experience is a plus.
  • Computer proficiency, including email and Microsoft Office.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (must be completed within 30 days of hire).
  • Dementia-focused training (must be completed within 90 days of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, set up, and lead a variety of fitness and life enrichment programs, including: Group and individual exercise classes
  • Music, trivia, theatre, and arts & crafts
  • Cognitive and brain-health activities
  • Cooking and baking programs
  • Adapt programming for residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Support.
  • Provide one-on-one fitness or enrichment support when needed.
  • Coordinate and assist with community outings, ensuring resident safety and enjoyment.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Life Enrichment and team members to create and distribute weekly activity schedules.
  • Create signage and written communications for programs and special events.
  • Attend staff meetings and share feedback on resident participation and engagement.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to programming, including Banquet Event Order (BEO) forms and departmental coordination.
  • Assist with resident sign-ups and attendance tracking.
  • Provide flexible coverage and support for the Life Enrichment department as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
